The Scottish Sustainable Development Forum is pleased to announce that Dr. Doug McKenzie‐Mohr, the founder of community‐based social marketing, will be delivering a Fostering Sustainable Behaviour workshop.

This is a unique opportunity to learn the latest in behaviour change theory from this international expert. Dr McKenzie-Mohr has had his work featured in the New York Times and his book recommended by Time magazine.

This one-day workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to community-based social marketing and how it is being applied throughout the  world to foster sustainable behaviour. Those who attend the workshop will learn the five steps of community-based social marketing:

  • selecting behaviours
  • identifying barriers
  • developing strategies
  • conducting pilots
  • broad scale implementation

and will be exposed to numerous case studies illustrating its use. This workshop provides an in-depth exposure to community-based social  marketing and provides participants with the knowledge they need to design and evaluate their own community-based social marketing programmes.

The workshop is aimed at individuals that design or fund programmes to encourage individuals or businesses to engage in environmentally beneficial behaviours -- such as those involved in waste reduction, water and energy efficiency, watershed and habitat protection, pollution prevention or transportation changes. Other roles that will benefit include: environmental education professionals who work in settings such as zoos, aquariums and parks, and public health professionals who work to foster sustainable lifestyle changes, such as being more active.

Registration is open now. To book your place visit: https://register.cbsm.com/workshops/?site=Stirling,%20Scotland
